Free Introduction to IP courses will be on offer on Wednesday, 10 June at Rail Media House in Coalville.

To mark its continued sponsorship of the Signalling & Telecommunications Engineer of the Year Award at the 2015 RailStaff Awards, Westermo Data Communications will be bringing its Mobile Technical & Technology Centre (MTTC) to Rail Media House in Coalville, Leicestershire, on 10 June.

Phil Mounter from Westermo said, ‘We have sponsored the Signalling & Telecommunications Engineer of the Year category at the RailStaff Awards for three years now and each year we look to find new signalling and telecommunications engineers.

‘This year we will be bringing our MTTC to the Rail Media offices in Coalville between 10 am and 4 pm.

‘On the day we will be running our basic introduction to building telecommunications networks in the rail industry either trackside or onboard. The basic course looks at building copper, fibre and wireless networks and the type of hardware you need to consider.’

The first eight people to register for the one-hour introduction will be offered a three-day Westermo Certified Engineer – Advanced Networking Engineer course, worth £500, free of charge. One lucky candidate will also win an Apple iWatch.
