Gary ElliotGary Elliott has joined Trough-Tec Systems, part of the Hird Group. Rail specialist, Gary Elliott, has moved from his position as commercial director at LB Foster, the specialist wheel-rail friction management and insulated rail joint company, to head up the introduction of Trough-Tec Systems across the UK and European rail markets.

Gary has over thirty years experience in the rail industry. He started his career as an apprentice draughtsman for the switch and crossing manufacturing company, Railway and General, in Nottingham. Lengthy spells at Balfour Beatty and Portec Rail have enabled Gary to build a varied career in engineering and the commercial world.

Trough-Tec Systems, part of the Hird Rail Group, is introducing innovative Polymer Cable Troughing to the British market with unique features aimed at helping foil cable theft. Polymer Cable Troughing also combats static build up, has a fire retardant and significantly reduces installation rates and the cost of ownership.

Says Michael Hird, managing director of Hird Rail, ‘We are delighted to have Gary on board. He brings vast experience both from his UK and International interaction. Our aim is to continually bring innovation to the rail sector whilst remaining independent and flexible. Gary is exactly the leader to help us get there.’

Doncaster based Hird Rail Services was first established in 1952 as F. Hird and Son, and supplies new rail, permanent way and re-usable material through to the manufacture of insulated block joints and professional haulage.
